While in the midst of celebrating my daughter's first birthday I remember getting an alert about the death of Whitney Houston.  As first I was shocked... didn't see that one coming.  But, my daughter was and always will be much more important than Whitney Houston.  So the party continued on.

Sorry to say... but I didn't know her, and while I appreciated her talent...it had been a while since she had been anything more than a tabloid story. 

Is it tragic? Yes. Was it preventable? Probably.  I am sad for her family and I appreciate the show of love from her fans.  I am a fan of what Whitney was. Watching her sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl still gives me chills.

I hope she is remembered for the incredible talent she was... and not what she let take control of her life. All in all... I truly wish for Whitney to be at peace.

While I haven't actually started my New Year's resolutions yet (I've been sick) I am liking how this year has started out.

My little lady got her top front teeth...making food a whole new adventure.  My hubby actually made breakfast for us one morning...bonus!  And AJ has been getting some good stretches of sleep.  Which means I've been getting some sleep too.

Now if I could just kick this cold...I could get my butt to the gym.  It's time to get rid of the rest of this baby weight.

But my ultimate NY resolution is to SLOW DOWN.  To not pack my days & nights so full that it is all a blur.  I'm all for mornings in my PJs playing with my baby... and evenings enjoying friends and family.  I'm going to try and make that happen more.
