I live on Long Island and one of my favorite places is the North Fork. This area is home to many of Long Island's wineries and now's the time to enjoy tasting new vintages. Here's a link to LI's Wine Country.
Forgotten New York
New York City has an incredible history in all facets of life. But sometimes it's the little things that bring back special memories of an era long gone. If you enjoy a little (or a lot) of nostalgia every now and then, Kevin Walsh has put together an incredible site of places in NY 'forgotten' until now. Click here and enjoy.

Before you hit (or skip) the malls today, here's two great articles from Time Magazine on how not to overspend or make costly mistakes:

I can rememeber Hostess from wayyy back. My dad owned a lunheonette that had a huge display case of Hostess (and Drake) goodies. Prominently places, as usual, were the Twinkees. Not my favorite (the chocolate cupcakes with the squiggly lines are), it's hard to believe these icons of snack food are going away.
Or will they? Perhaps another company will buy the rights to make these treats and satisfy generations of Twinkee lovers. I hope so.
I remember this from a Halloween party a while back. I'm not a huge avacado fan, but it looks great for Halloween. The picture is from AllRecipies.com
Halloween Brain Dip! Cauliflower is hollowed out and filled with avocado dip - that's it!

Apparently, there's malware out there that is going to cause some computers to be "locked out" of the Internet on Monday. FBI says it's been lurking for a year or so. Two things; first, go to this site and check to see if your computer passes the test (a simple screen wil immediately let you know.) http://www.dns-ok.us/ If you are infected, or if on Monday you haev no connection to the Internet, don't panic - your Internet Provider can fix it for you. Happy surfing!
