III.  RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

TYPE OF RECRUITMENT INITIATIVE
(MENU SELECTION)

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY

1

Internship Programs

This SEU regularly hosts interns from area colleges and universities.  As part of their experience, the students are exposed to all facets of radio station operations during the initial phase of the internship, assisting in the programming, promotions, marketing and sales departments.  They then select a specific station based on their interests and spend the remainder of the internship applying the skills they’ve learned to that station’s functions.

During this reporting period, this SEU hosted a total of two interns as follows:

Winter 2006: Brevard Community College-1 intern.

Summer 2007: Brevard Community College-1 intern

2

Participate in Job Fairs

On February 28, 2007, this SEU participated in the Florida Today Job Fair.  Station participants included our Business Manager, two Sales Managers, and Operations Director, and the WBVD Program Director who discussed careers in broadcasting and accepted resumes from prospective applicants.

On September 12, 2007, Clear Channel Radio and Florida Today Newspaper co-sponsored the CareerBuilder Job Fair at the Melbourne Auditorium with nearly 50 participating employers. Attendance exceeded 300 people.  Station participants included our Market Manager, Business Manager, Operations Manager, and the WMMB Program Director who discussed radio careers with job seekers, handed out our current postings, and encouraged job seekers to contact the SEU to apply.  All our radio stations broadcast from the event with break ins twice an hour to promote it.

3

Management-level training regarding equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination

On August 15, 2007, the SEU’s Controller participated in a training session entitled “AAP Fundamentals” hosted by Clear Channel to review affirmative action information.
