President Barack Obama on Monday dropped by a star-studded meeting at the White House that brought celebrities such as actress Amy Poehler, singer Jennifer Hudson and "Funny or Die’s" Mike Farah together to talk about how to promote Obamacare to young people.
Actor (and former White House official) Kal Penn, “Royal Pains” creator Andrew Lenchewski, YouTube Comedy’s Daniel Kellison, as well as representatives for Oprah Winfrey, Alicia Keys, Bon Jovi, the Grammys and Latin Grammys also attended, according to a White House official.
Senior Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett hosted the meeting, which included several top White House communications strategists, the official said.
“The president stopped by the meeting to engage artists who expressed an interest in helping to educate the public about the benefits of the health law,” the official said. “The reach of these national stars spreads beyond the Beltway to fans of their television shows, movies and music—and the power of these artists to speak through social media is especially critical."
